Top Job of the Month – Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician, Phoenix, Arizona

Rx relief has an exciting opportunity for a Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a temp-to-hire position.

In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining productivity and quality standards, as well as legal and company compliance with all applicable regulations.

The pharmacy technician will also track and triage coverage determination requests submitted by providers to determine if a pharmacist review is required. Other duties of the job include obtaining verbal authorizations and requesting detailed clinical information from prescribers, approving coverage determination requests based on defined criteria within the scope of approved protocols or decision trees, and entering and documenting coverage request decisions into the PBM system and notifying providers and members.

The person hired for the job will also respond to client inquiries regarding authorization approvals and PBM on-line applications, refer coverage requests for specialty drugs to delegated vendors or clients for processing, and contact providers for additional information to facilitate coverage reviews.

The pharmacy technician will also notify physicians, providers and members of decisions regarding coverage determination requests working with all Medicare Part D plans and working through the different checks and balances.

The requirements for the job include:

• A valid, open and active Arizona pharmacy technician license or Tech in trainee license
• A high school degree or the equivalent
• At least one year of experience working as a pharmacy technician in a retail, hospital or managed care setting preferred

The hours of the job are Monday through Friday, day shift. The pay for the position is $17 to $18 an hour.
