Top Job: Long-Term Care Pharmacist Needed in Dallas

If you are a pharmacist with experience in long-term care, Rx relief® has an opening that might be right for you in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.

In this job, you will evaluate physician medication orders for the appropriateness of prescribed drugs, dosage, potential adverse interactions, route of administration, and stability. You will make recommendations for therapy changes to physicians and facility staff, if needed. You will also work with patient medical information to conduct drug utilization reviews on all prescriptions and review clinical edits to ensure that there are no adverse drug interactions.

The duties of this job also include maintaining a patient database of medical histories, clinical and laboratory data, and medications, as well as working with pharmacy technicians to reconcile controlled substance logs with inventory and prescriptions that have been dispensed to comply with state and federal regulations.

You will also work with the chief resident pharmacist to put effective cost-containment strategies in place with both the procurement and dispensing of drugs and will provide clinical expertise, responding to questions from staff and customers. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to provide clinical and technical support.

Additional requirements for the job include documenting communications with physicians, nurses, patients, and their family members, and implementing policies to make sure that drugs are procured, stored, distributed, and disposed of properly.

The qualifications needed for the job include:

  • A valid, open and active Texas pharmacy license
  • An RPh or PharmD degree
  • One to three years of experience working in a long-term care setting
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screen
