Top Job: Clinical Pharmacist Needed in Tempe, AZ

Rx relief® has an opening for a Clinical Pharmacist in Tempe, Arizona, who will take on a prior authorization specialist role. This is a long-term temporary position, but may become permanent.

The duties of the job include verifying the completeness and accuracy of prescription requests, reviewing prior authorization requests and making determinations for drug products according to member benefits and coverage criteria, setting criteria for medication analysis, coordinating reports to clients, meeting regulatory reporting requirements for drug utilization review, and fraud and abuse reporting.

The pharmacist will also be responsible for developing clinical criteria for review of nonformulary or nonpreferred drug list medications and communicating recommendations to clients. He or she will also develop systemic reviews of prescription claims and oversee the drug utilization review and medication therapy management programs to meet Medicare Part D requirements.

Other duties of the job are developing and designing clinical edits to adjudicate claims and enhance drug utilization, providing clinical guidance and support to pharmacy technicians, reviewing and developing guideline criteria for nonformulary drugs and prior authorization in support of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, and pharmacy benefit design.

The person hired for the job will also evaluate quality controls and implement opportunities for performance improvement in pharmacy practices.

To qualify for the job, you must have a valid, open and active Arizona pharmacist license, an R. Ph. or Pharm.D. degree, and at least one to three years of recent pharmacy experience within a clinical or hospital setting.

The schedule for the job is Monday through Friday, daytime shift.
